(They could be old Outlook versions, devices or custom apps connecting to Exchange Online).Admins need to update end-user client apps or line-of-business apps that are using Basic Authentication to use Modern Authentication before October 2022 because Microsoft will start turning Basic authentication protocols off at scale.Admins need to enable Modern authentication. ![]() Basic/Legacy Authentication is a security risk!.Microsoft announced that effective October 1, 2022, they will begin disabling Basic authentication in all tenants for Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online.
